Robin V. Harris

Robin Harris joined Wallace in October 2023.

Previously, she spent 10 years at The Education Trust, which works to advance policies and practices to dismantle the racial and economic barriers embedded in the American education system and thereby improve equity in education from preschool through college. As the organization’s vice president of strategic communications, she headed a team responsible for ensuring that the organization conveyed its message in a clear, compelling fashion across channels ranging from op-eds, blogs, and speeches, to podcasts, short-form videos, and social media.  

Earlier, Harris was a managing editor at Education Sector, a nonprofit (now part of the American Institutes for Research) that combined research, policy, and journalistic story-telling techniques to disseminate innovative ideas for improving public education. Before that, she was the associate editor at Diverse Issues in Higher Education, a magazine focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion in postsecondary education. She started her career as a journalist, including stints as deputy editor at Knight-Ridder/Tribune Business News, and copy editor at several daily newspapers.

Harris has a master’s degree and doctorate in English literature from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree from Howard University. Part of what drew her to Wallace was the opportunity to apply her skills and passion to Wallace’s efforts in youth development and the arts, as well as education leadership. She has a knack for conflict negotiation, the natural outcome of being a middle child.
