Lauren Sanders

​Lauren Sanders joined The Wallace Foundation in ​late 2016. She is responsible for overseeing the strategy and operations for Wallace’s digital and editorial ecosystems, as well as editing, writing, and managing large-scale projects, including the 2023 demolition-and-rebuild of the foundation’s website.  

Prior to Wallace, Sanders ran various teams at Teach For America, all with a focus on marketing, digital content, and online community engagement. Before that she was the editorial director at Lambda Legal, where she spearheaded the organization’s first online advocacy program and other small steps into the brave new world of online marketing and communications. Her training, however, is old school, including a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University and stints at numerous print magazines as a writer, editor, and copy editor.

Sanders also holds a B.A. in political science from Barnard College and an M.A. in creative writing from City College in New York. She is the author of several short stories and novels, including the Lambda Literary Award–winning Kamikaze Lust. Her obsession with standup paddleboarding gives new meaning to the term “board meeting.”
